About Jenna

Hi! I’m Jenna Abbott, creator at All Mae’d up by Jenna. Welcome to my blog! I get lots of questions on how All Mae’d Up came to be and where the name came from- let me fill you in.

It all started with a small metal flower my Aunt had hanging on her living room wall back in 2013 or 2014. I asked where she got it and she said “Round Top.” I had no idea what Round Top was. She told me all about it and also about the Junk Gypsies. I started watching the Junk Gypsies on GAC and couldn’t believe the beautiful makeovers they would give to pieces that looked like they belonged in the trash. The next time the Round Top Antique Show rolled around, I went and I was HOOKED.

My daughter was a toddler at that time and I was working a crappy evening/weekend job around my husband’s schedule so that one of us was always home with her. Money was tight but I wanted to decorate the house so I bought a few cheap furniture pieces here and there from Facebook garage sale groups to paint on my own. I really didn’t know exactly what I was doing but I did enjoy it.

In 2016, we moved to Lampasas, Texas, a small town. I had quit my crappy job as it wasn’t worth the commute. Did I want to get another crappy job in Lampasas? Most places weren’t even open late enough for me to work evenings around my husband’s schedule. I kept talking with friends and family about how I wanted start my own little business painting furniture and making things. Luckily, everyone was super encouraging and in June of 2017, All Mae’d Up was created!!

Coming up with a name was not easy for me, I asked a friend for any ideas she might have and I remember her saying “how about something to do with your daughter?” I liked that idea but I still couldn’t think of anything! So I passed the idea onto my genius brother, he came up with the name All Mae’d Up. My daughter’s name is Mae. It was perfect!!!!

I LOVE the thrill of searching for new (old) things to refinish and repurpose. My favorite places to go are garage sales, estate sales, thrift stores and flea markets and find things that are unique and one of a kind.

I’ve learned so much since the first piece of furniture I painted. Everyday is a new learning experience but I love to learn new techniques and try new products and I don’t plan to stop anytime soon!!
